History
The Mayfair Arts & Culture is a two screen cinema, exhibition space and arts hub for Kaikoura and surrounding areas. It was reopened in November 2020 following a major rebuild, retaining the original 1934 art deco façade but with new facilities including two auditoriums, a gallery space and conferencing facilities.
The Mayfair is a not-for-profit, community owned and run art and culture centre screening the latest blockbusters and popular movies. It is available for hire for functions, weddings and performances as well as conferences and corporate events.
Since the Kaikoura earthquakes in 2016 there has been an amazing fundraising effort to create this new venue which exists to serve the community.
