The locally owned and operated, 60-seat Metro specialises in independent and festival film. Built in the basement of Dunedin's beautiful Town Hall in the mid-1990s, today the Metro has the latest in digital screen and sound technology but is also one of the few remaining cinemas in New Zealand with 35mm film projection capabilities. The food and beverage options include Deep South premium ice cream, Whitakers chocolate, coffee and a range of teas.
