A Question of Justice (November 4)
Documentarian Bryan Bruce leads a crack team of journalists in unearthing some of Aotearoa’s most challenging criminal justice cases: everything from hate crimes and murders of every sort to the stories of victims whose voices were never rightly heard. The series begins with big questions of justice and morality, before honing into the human details of each disturbing case.
The Sex Lives of College Girls: Season 2 (November 12)
Season one of this fresh and flirtatious uni comedy gave us Sex and the City vibes for a much younger set of characters, including Pauline Chalamet (yep, Timmy’s sister) as the adorably awkward Kimberley. With her scholarship now under threat, she’s going to have to lean on her unlikely college buds more than ever, even as they deal with their own hectic challenges of identity and sexuality.
Yellowstone: Season 5 (November 14)
It’s heating up in Montana, y’all: the US’s most popular cable series unfailingly puts the Dutton clan through the ringer with new challenges to their territory and familial relationships. It’s no wonder the show has sparked multiple spin-offs starring Dutton ancestors, but seeing Kevin Costner play a role that’s so meant for him makes the original a must-see for western fans.

The Lost City (November 1)
You can read my review here for my full thoughts on this star-studded rom-com adventure, but you basically know what you’re in for already: the charming physical comedy talents of Bullock and Tatum, and not heaps more. Their chemistry sells the whole thing, with Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt putting in some neat supporting gags on the sidelines. Consider The Stone not exactly Romanced, but definitely tickled and entertained.
The Postman Always Rings Twice (November 10)
One of the greatest 1940s noir films, with a dastardly John Garfield and pitch-perfect femme fatale Lana Turner conspiring to knock off her lowly husband. The story’s been filmed plenty of times, in French and Italian before this 1946 stunner and again in the 80s with Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange. But it simmers best here, in smoky black-and-white with obvious sexual tension between the two amoral stars.
See How They Run (November 16)
Fresh out of cinemas, this retro whodunnit stars Sam Rockwell and an infectiously enthusiastic Saoirse Ronan as coppers investigating a West End murder. In Amelia Berry’s review, she said the film darts between “loving homages to The Mousetrap, half-hearted condemnations of true crime, genuinely fun character comedy, and an actual murder mystery which feels unsatisfyingly half-baked.” Will you see the killer reveal coming, or get too swept up in the charming cast and lush production design?
