How to watch Katy Keene in New Zealand
If you’ve been (jughead) jonesing for some of the pitch-perfect histrionic insanity that has been absent from our screens since the demise of Archie Comics adaptation Riverdale, we’ve got great news for you. A spin-off set five years after its parent show’s final season drops a handful of supporting characters and new stars into the spotlight—and into the cutthroat New York City arts scene.
When is Katy Keene being released in Australia?
Katy Keene is streaming in New Zealand exclusively on NEON starting in February.
What is Katy Keene about?
We follow the lives and loves of aspiring fashion designer Katy (Lucy Hale), singer-songwriter Josie “and the Pussycats” McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), “it girl” Pepper Smith (Julia Chan), drag artist Jorge Lopez (Jonny Beauchamp) and more as they try to make it in the Big Apple. And that is pretty much your lot; while Katy may be a clothes horse, the narrative engine is more of a workhorse.

Why we’re excited about Katy Keene
That whole “fresh-faced noobs face the challenges of the big bad city” thing is certainly fertile grist for the drama mill, as ’90s fave Melrose Place demonstrated way back in the day. Creator (and Archie Comics Chief Creative Officer) Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has worked wonders updating teen traumas of the venerable comic to the small screen before, so we’ve little doubt he’ll pull it off again. Add in a top notch young cast and we’re certainly keen for Katy.
