How to watch Succession season 4 in New Zealand
The end is almost upon us! We’ve had a fine old time watching the uber-rich and uber-horrible Roy family tear absolute strips off each other for the past few years, but all good things must end—and that includes the hugely successful Succession. The fourth and final season starts streaming on Neon from March 27.
Succession is, of course, one of the most popular series in the world, but just in case you’ve been sleeping on it: the show follows the familial infighting of a powerful media dynasty, with Machiavellian patriarch Logan (Brian Cox in the role of a lifetime) presiding over his brood of disappointing children, who are all jostling for his approval and/or removal.
There’s sardonic Roman (Kiernan Culkin), pick-me girl Shiv (Sarah Snook), callow Connor (Alan Ruck), and King of the Failsons Kendall (Jeremy Strong), plus their various spouses, ex-spouses, children, and hangers-on, all angling for big piece of the pie as Logan’s health and mental state deteriorate, while various corporate raiders snipe away at the family biz: Waystar RoyCo.
When last we left this bitter brood, the kids had teamed up to try and stage a coup against Logan, who was on the verge of selling the company to tech bro Lukas Mattson (Alexander Skarsgård). Crafty ol’ Logan outmanoeuvred them, of course, but it’s certainly shaken up the status quo, setting the scene for a fraught and furious final 10 episodes.
“Rich people being horrible” is a familiar subgenre—even soapy mainstays Dallas and Dynasty were working a familiar groove back in the day. But among the current crop—White Lotus, Triangle of Sadness, The Menu, et al—Succession is head and shoulders above the competition. We’ll miss the Roys when they go, but at least they’re going out on a high. Let the vicious familial infighting begin!
