Giancarlo Giannini won Best Actor at Cannes as an anarchist who plots to assassinate Mussolini in this Lina Wertmüller comedy-drama.
Giannini plays an idealistic farmer swept up in an anti-fascist movement, and as a member he is tasked with the assassination. While preparing, Giannini takes up residence in a whorehouse run by another anti-Mussolinite. But his resolve is weakened by his love for one of the prostitutes.
