Masquerades (Mascarades)

Starring, written and directed by actor Lyes Salem (The First Day of the Rest of Your Life), this comedy of manners is set in a remote Algerian village.

Story follows a secret love affair between humble video-shop owner Khliffa (Mohamed Bouchaïb) and the beautiful Rym (Sarah Reguieg), who suffers from narcolepsy. But Rym’s overprotective brother Mounir (Salem) has other ideas, and drunkenly declares to the entire village that he has found a rich husband for Rym. The next morning he finds himself caught in a hilarious and rapidly escalating charade that overwhelms the entire village.
