Night and the City

Harry Fabian, an American hustler in London, sees a chance to get rich in the wrestling business in this film noir by Jules Dassin. As one con leads to another, Fabian gets further and further over his head. 

Dassin, a frequent noir filmmaker, shot Night and the City with a McCarthy-era blacklisting hanging over his head. Not allowed back on the lot to complete the film, Dassin enjoyed a prolific later career in Europe, including early heist pic Rafifi.
