Steven Soderbergh's steamy crime caper pairing George Clooney, playing smooth criminal Jack Foley, with Jennifer Lopez as the federal marshal he takes hostage. Based on the novel by Elmore Leonard, whose other written work has been adapted as the films Jackie Brown and Get Shorty, among others, as well as TV's Justified.
Foley's escape from a Florida prison doesn't go quite as planned, and he winds up in the trunk of his getaway car with marshal Karen Sisco (Lopez). That's the tight space where they begin their courtship and it soon becomes obvious that their fates will intertwine. Intrigued by his cool demeanour, the seemingly by-the-book Sisco is determined to bring Foley to justice. Foley, who has served half his 40 years behind bars, is equally determined to avoid further imprisonment. Also stars Ving Rhames, Luis Guzmán, Don Cheadle, Albert Brooks and cameos by Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson.
Out of Sight marks Soderbergh's first commercial hit and his first collaboration with Clooney. They would go on to make the Ocean's Eleven films and Solaris.
