Former kiwi Anna Reeves (and NZ cinematographer Alun Bollinger) delivers a small, slow moving, mildly funny, somewhat involving, Australian drama set in an oyster farming community on the absorbing Hawkesbury River. Though it’s often subtle, romantic in an Australian kind of way, and features solid performances, the sum of parts doesn’t really satisfy.
It follows Jack (O'Loughlin), a city boy new to the unglamorous oyster farming community. While involving himself with the locals, he robs the fish market and mails the cash to himself. But the darn postman drops dead and the mail spills in the vast river. Police begin hanging about, and Jack suspects the town hottie Pearl (Glenn) has picked up the parcel. Whilst investigating these suspicions, the two become hot n' heavy.
