Filmed in a style that has been compared to the whimsy of Terrence Malick (The Tree of Life), Carlos Reygadas - who took the Best Director award at Cannes 2012 for this effort - directs a surreal, semi-autobiographical drama about urban life in the Mexican countryside, also occasionally traversing Spain, Belgium and an English rugby pitch.
At the 2010 Berlin Film Festival, Reygadas described Post Tenebras Lux as a film where "reason will intervene as little as possible, like an expressionist painting where you try to express what you’re feeling through the painting rather than depict what something looks like."
