In this rare drama from Myanmar (Burma), a Burmese labourer returns home with the ashes of his friend after working abroad for ten years and sees first-hand how difficult life in his homeland is. Searching for work amongst the dilapidated infrastructure of the country, Shin-hong experiences the lack of options that his friends and family are forced to deal with on a daily basis.
First-time director Midi Z is, like his protagonist, an ethnic Chinese who moved from Burma to Taiwan, lending his dramatic tale aspects of both autobiography and documentary.
