Billy Wilder/Marilyn Monroe romantic comedy, the one with that most famous of Monroe scenes - the air vent billowing the skirt bit. With his family away for their annual summer holiday, Richard (Tom Ewell) decides he has the opportunity to live a bachelor's life. The beautiful but ditzy blonde (Monroe) from the apartment above catches his eye and they soon start spending a little too much time together.
Hollywood production codes at the time meant Wilder couldn't show the couple in the act of adultery. This lead Wilder to later disown the film saying: "Unless the husband has an affair with that girl there's nothing. But you couldn’t do that in those days, so I was just straitjacketed. It just didn’t come off one bit, and there’s nothing I can say about it except I wish I hadn’t made it." The title refers to declining interest in one's partner after seven years of marriage.
