This Ain't No Mouse Music

Chris Strachwitz is the subject of this documentary, a German count turned archaeologist of 'authentic' American music. Having fled to the US after WWII, Strachwitz developed an obsessive passion for the seldom-recorded sounds of blues, Cajun, hillbilly country Tex-Mex and New Orleans R&B. Travelling to plantations, prisons, churches and juke joints, Strachwitz would return home with his tape recorder full of songs that would revolutionise popular music when released on his label Arhoolie Records.
