Alien: Romulus trailer and release date – New Zealand
Ridley Scott’s out (as director, anyway—the world’s greatest cigar aficionado is still producing). Fede Álvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) is in. And they still can’t hear you scream in space. Yep, it’s time for another Alien movie—and this time, it’s Disney.
When is Alien: Romulus being released in New Zealand?
Alien: Romulus hits New Zealand cinemas on August 15.

What is Alien: Romulus about?
Well, there’s these aliens, see? Nasty buggers. Acid for blood. Lay eggs inside of people with spectacularly fatal results. And, uh…
Well, look, info about this film is being kept more securely than the Weyland-Yutani Bioweapons Division’s quarterly forecasts. What we do know is that it’s set between the first two films, and follows a salvage crew who are merrily looting a derelict space station, only to run into… well, you know.
Other than that, at least one chest will be burst, at least one face will be hugged, and that’s all the news that’s fit to print.
The cast of Alien: Romulus
Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) is Rain Carradine, David Jonsson (Rye Lane) is Andy, Isabela Merced (Madame Web) is Kay, and Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu appear in undisclosed roles. We could hazard a guess that the small cast indicates a real back-to-basics approach to the franchise, but we’re working from thin evidence.

Why we’re excited about Alien: Romulus
Well, we’re certainly curious. It’s hardly controversial to note that the later Alien movies have met with mixed responses from audiences and critics alike, but they tend to age well—even Ridley Scott’s last two efforts look better with hindsight. How this latest offering fits in with the established canon or, indeed, Noah Hawley’s upcoming TV series, is anyone’s guess, but Fede is a bit of a gun, the cast is solid, and we’re always up to watch terrified people run through spaceship corridors for a couple of hours.
