Andor season 2 trailer and release date: New Zealand

With a fanfare like unto the music of the very choir of heaven itself, the mighty Mendo, Australia’s—nay, the world’s—greatest living actor, returns to the Star Wars galaxy.

Oh, and it’s the second season of that show you like.

When is Andor season 2 being released in New Zealand?

Andor season two is streaming in New Zealand exclusively on Disney+ (there’s a shock) from April 23, 2025.

What is Andor season 2 about?

With the Empire threatened by ruthless terrorists, it falls to the heroic Orson Krennic, the Emperor’s loyal, driven Director of Advanced Weapons Research, to undertake a daring and desperate plan: the construction of the Death Star, the galaxy’s last, best hope for peace and stabil-

…ahem.

Okay, fair enough. Following the events of season one, which saw nascent Rebel Alliance agent Cassian Andor get well and truly radicalised during the early days of the Empire, this upcoming salvo of episodes covers the four years leading up to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, when…well, you know what happens. We’re getting 12 episodes this season, comprising four three-episode story arcs, and word is the final episode will lead right into Rogue One, which is conveniently sitting on Disney+ right now, so you can roll straight into it.

The cast of Andor season 2

Diego Luna is Cassian Andor; Alan Tudyk reprises his role as reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO; Kyle Soller is ambitious Imperial toe-rag, Deputy Inspector Syril Karn; Stellan Skarsgård is ruthless and speech-loving Rebel agent Luthen Rael; Genevieve O’Reilly is Rebel general Mon Mothma; Adria Arjona is Andor’s childhood friend, Bix Caleen; James McArdle is her squeeze, Timm Karlo; Denise Gough is Imperial Security Bureau officer Dedra Meero; Varada Sethu is Rebel medic Cinta Kaz; Faye Marsay is Rebel cell leader Vel Sartha; Elizabeth Dulau is Kleya Marki, Luthen’s assistant; Forest Whitaker is militant Rebel commander Saw Gerrera; and, of course, Mendo is Orson Krennic.

Why we’re excited about Andor season 2

The first season of Andor was just the breath of fresh air that the franchise needed, taking a sober, clear-eyed look at what armed resistance against tyranny actually costs, both emotionally and physically – albeit with lasers and spaceships and whatnot. Now, that’s not necessarily the flavour of Star Wars we want all the time, but we are 100% fully on board for another 12 episodes of grim skullduggery and hard choices at the sharp end of the Rebellion.

Plus… y’know…

…Mendo.
