Avengers: Endgame keeps smashing records and piggybanks

Avengers: Endgame continued adding to its bulging coffers and pile of box office records as it closed out its opening week.

Finishing week one with $7,394,151 (which doesn’t include day one takings of almost $2 million), the local records it now holds include: No. 1 – Opening Days of All Time, No. 1 – Opening Weekends of All Time, No. 1 – Grossing Film of 2019 and No. 1 – Opening Weeks of All Time (for context, the previous largest opening week was Star Wars: The Force Awakens with $6,261,547).

The film is now more than halfway to all-time NZ box office champ Avatar, and its record haul of $17,367,465.
