The Olympics’ 329 events, played over 19 days, begin a few days before the ceremony on July 24 with the first pool matches for football and sevens.

Paris joins London as the second city to host the Olympics three times – having done so previously in 1900 and 1924. The host city is promising to blend competition and historical grandeur with events held at legendary Paris venues including Stade de France, Grand Palais, Parc de Princes, Stade Roland Garros, the Seine River and Les Invalides. Meanwhile seaside Marseille will host the sailing, and French Polynesia’s Tahiti hosts the surfing.
Top athletes from around the globe are gearing up including Kiwis Ellesse Andrews (track cycling), absolute champion Lisa Carrington (canoe sprint), and Lydia Ko (golf); alongside gymnastics star Simone Biles, sprinter Erriyon Knighton, and swimmer Katie Ledecky.
