Happy Gilmore 2: New Zealand trailer and release date

Well, it’s only taken…almost 30 years? That can’t be right. Anyway, we’re getting a sequel to Adam Sandler’s 1996 golf comedy, Happy Gilmore.

When is Happy Gilmore 2 being released in New Zealand?

Happy Gilmore 2 is streaming in New Zealand exclusively on Netflix from July 25, 2025.

What is Happy Gilmore 2 about?

Excellent question! All we know so far is that hockey loser turned gold legend Happy Gilmore (you know who) comes out of retirement for some reason. Honestly, does the plot matter too much? Nah, not really.

The cast of Happy Gilmore 2

Returning from the original, we have Adam Sandler as Happy Gilmore; Julie Bowen as his love interest, Virginia Venit; Allen Covert as his former caddy, Otto; Dennis Dugan, who directed the first film, as golf commissioner Doug Thompson; Ben Stiller as evil nurse Hal L; and praise the lord, Christopher McDonald as nefarious golf pro Shooter McGavin. New to the Happyverse are Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, Kym Whitley, Ethan Cutkosky, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Scott Mescudi, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie, Philip Fine Schneider, Conor Sherry, and Nick Swardson, plus Sandler’s kids, Sadie and Sunny. In addition, Blake Clark is once again Farmer Fran, a character he played in The Waterboy.

Plus we’re getting cameos from pro golfers Keegan Bradley, Bryson DeChambeau, John Daly, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Jack Nicklaus, Corey Pavin, Xander Schauffele, Paige Spiranac, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Lee Trevino, and Will Zalatoris, if that does anything for you. And you can also expect Eminem, Reggie Bush, Travis Kelce, Dan Patrick, and Becky Lynch to crop up.

Why we’re excited about Happy Gilmore 2

Look, while every recent Adam Sandler release has been an absolute coin flip, Happy Gilmore remains a banger, and the character is easily one of his most beloved creations. We have high—if somewhat guarded—hopes for this one.
