Yellowstone prequel series 1883 is about to premiere in New Zealand
Anticipated western series 1883 is premiering in New Zealand very shortly. Find out when it releases, where it’s streaming, and why everyone’s hyped about it.
Yee-haw! We got the rootin’-est, tootin’-est news this side of the Mississippi. Lend us an ear, partner.
Right, enough of that. Western series 1883, the hotly anticipated spinoff to Taylor Sheridan’s juggernaut hit Yellowstone, is finally about to touchdown in Aotearoa. All episodes will stream on Prime Video from 29 April.
Set in late 19th Century, Sam Elliott leads the series as the head of this generation of the Dutton family embarking on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America.
The show “offers an unflinching look at the beginnings of Yellowstone‘s Dutton family” according to AV Club. “A rare example of a spin-off that never feels beholden to its source material,” Variety reckons. “It is a beautifully produced ode to grim nation building,” The Age concludes, “the initial episodes are uncompromising and compelling.”
If you’re more Yellowstone than yellow-bellied, you can give this show a holler when it arrives on Prime Video later this month, Pilgrim.
