How to watch CatVideoFest 2024 in New Zealand
Do you like cats? How about cat videos? Like watching them on your phone? How about paying to see them in a cinema? You in? Okay, then, let’s do this.
When is CatVideoFest 2024 being released in New Zealand?
CatVideoFest is now screening in New Zealand cinemas.
What is CatVideoFest 2024 about?
Really? Need a hint?
Righto. “CatVideoFest is a compilation reel of the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and classic films.”
It’s a bunch of cat videos. That’s your lot. It’s safe bet that these are gonna be funny, adorable, heart-warming clips, so don’t go expecting anything like Netflix’s Don’t F*** with Cats, which traumatised us all a few years back.
To be fair, CatVideoFest is family friendly and raises money for cats at risk (and my two are at risk after waking me up every night this week, let me tell ya) through partnerships with local shelters, vets, and charities. That’s a good thing, and trumps my general cynicism. You can learn more about their work on their official site here.

A bunch of cats. Probably some humans. IMDB has failed us on this one.

Why we’re excited about CatVideoFest 2024
Oh, come on now, we’re not gonna spit on this one. Am I gonna go check it out? Nah, doubt it. But the internet was made for cats and porn, and you can generally only see one of those theatrically these days, and that would be this here offering. Parents of small children will probably have a better time with this than any of the usual offerings, and it’s an easy way to fling some money at rescue orgs.
And you should get a cat or two. They’re good for the soul. Get ’em from a rescue organisation or adopt a stray. The psychological benefits are immeasurable.
