How to watch Citadel: Diana in New Zealand

Remember Citadel, the mega-budget spy thriller series from post-Marvel golden boys the Russo brothers? Remember that it was supposed to be the keystone in a multinational, multilingual, globe-trotting espionage franchise? Well, turns out that’s still happening.

How to watch Citadel: Diana in New Zealand

Citadel: Diana is streaming in New Zealand exclusively on Amazon Prime Video from October 10, 2024

What is Citadel: Diana about?

Where Citadel saw Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra as former lovers and spies once again caught up in a covert war between powerful intelligence agencies Citadel and Manticore, Citadel: Diana sees Matilda De Angelis as Citadel agent Diana Cavalieri, an undercover Citadel mole in Manticore trying to come in from the cold. She’s forced to put her trust in an unexpected ally, Edo Zani, the heir of Manticore’s Italian branch who’s making a play for leadership against the other European families.

Which sounds more like the John Wick yniverse to us. No other details are currently available, but if you want a real world dose of backstabbing and high-stakes power-broking, dip into the story behind the first series’ production. There’s a reason it cost $300 million and looked like it cost and a third of that.

The cast of Citadel: Diana

Matilda De Angelis (The Undoing) is Diana Cavalieri; Lorenzo Cervasio as Edo Zani; Maurizio Lombardi is his father, Manticore bigwig Ettore Zani; Julia Piaton is Cécile Martin; Thekla Reuten is Julia Zani; Bernhard Schütz is Wolfgang Klein; and Filippo Nigro is Gabriele.

Why we’re excited about Citadel: Diana

We weren’t particularly big fans of the foundational series of the franchise, but Citadel: Diana is, narrative connections presumably aside, a wholly Italian production that will, with any luck, establish its own style and identity – and will likely not suffer from the extensive retooling that plagued Citadel. But we are getting more of these things; Citadel season 2 is on its way, along with the Indian expansion, Citadel: Honey Bunny.
