Well, stuff that looks like magic, at the very least. This six part season sees Blaine, himself renowned for spectacular feats and stunts that don’t so much stretch the bounds of credibility but absolutely shatter it, take us on a round-the-world journey to meet a wide variety of magicians, mystics, performers, and what have you.
Stopping off at Brazil, Southeast Asia, India, the Arctic Circle, South Africa and Japan, Blaine seeks out all manner of folks who can do things unlike anything you’ve seen outside of an MCU movie. He investigates not only the incredible feats they can do and the acts they perform, but the unique cultures that birthed them. This one comes to us from Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s award-winning Imagine Documentaries team, so there’s a bit of a pedigree there.

Why we’re excited about David Blaine: Do Not Attempt – Season 1
Part magic show, part travelogue, with a dash of sociology and anthropology tossed in for good measure, David Blaine: Do Not Attempt looks like a winning formula for engrossing TV. The risk here, as ever in this sort of thing, is the possibility that the whole thing comes across as vaguely exploitative in regards to the people and cultures it highlights. But it’s hard to make a call there without having seen it. Still, it’s gotta be worth a look.
