How to watch Extraction 2 in New Zealand
Tyler Drake is back! Clear the decks, folks, because this weekend is gonna be dedicated to watching big Chris “The Hammer” Hemsworth kick the living hell out of a small army of mooks who really aren’t getting paid enough for this kind of work. That’s right, action fans: Extraction 2 is now out in New Zealand, and streaming on Netflix now!
Following on from Extraction and once again directed by stuntie-turned-filmmaker Sam Hargrave, working from a script by Marvel maven Joe Russo, this latest burst of adrenaline and testosterone sees Hemsworth’s former SAS commando, now a top-notch mercenary.
Having barely survived the last movie, this time out he’s off to rescue his ex-wife’s sister and kids, the family having been imprisoned by her brutal criminal ex-husband, Davit Radiani (Tornike Bziava). Naturally, things go awry. And, just as naturally, are set right by killing a staggering number of people.
Golshifteh Farahani is back in the mix as Nik, Rake’s handler/business partner, and the Iranian acting legend actually gets some on-screen action this time out. Not so for established action icon Olga Kurylenko, who crops up as Rake’s ex-wife. We also get a brief turn from Idris Elba as a mysterious suit who sets up the operation, reuniting him with his Thor co-star. Action veteran Daniel Bernhardt also gets a chance to showcase his impressive fighting chops.
Let’s be real: the action is the draw, and Extraction 2 is certainly no slouch in that department. The creative team have pulled out all the stops to give us a 20 minute one-shot take that has left audiences lucky enough to catch it early gobsmacked.
We like the occasional smack in the gob, cinematically speaking, and Hemsworth certainly likes smacking gobs (again, cinematically speaking). So we’re looking forward to extracting maximum enjoyment from this latest action spectacular from the good folks at Netflix.
