Hellbound season two is now streaming exclusively on Netflix.
What is Hellbound season 2 about?
Season one kicked off with what appeared to be angel (think “otherworldly and terrifying messenger of God” rather than “harps, wings, and haloes”) manifesting on earth, decreeing that certain people are going to hell for their transgressions, and clueing them in as to the exact time and date of their damnation. This is carried out by a trio of giant, Hulk-looking monsters in a suitably horrific and very public execution, burning the transgressor to ashes. The series follows how society copes with this sudden proof of some kind of cosmic and unforgiving universal morality, with the hyper-religious New Truth Society and the more criminally-inclined Arrowhead group emerging as powers.
Season one jumped five years after the first three episodes, showing how the world changed after the inciting event. Season two picks up…well, we don’t know. Netflix is keeping a tight rein on info. We do know that it kicks off with the surprise resurrection of New Cult Society leader Jeong Jin-soo and proceeds from there. Also, it’s been three years since the first season and our memory is a little fuzzy.

Why we’re excited about Hellbound season 2
Season one was a gritty, bloody, high concept banger, so there’s no reason not to expect that season two will bring us more of the same. Still, it might be worth giving that first season another spin to refresh your memory.
