How to watch High Potential in New Zealand

What if Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting solved crimes instead of chasing after Minnie Driver? Only instead of Matt Damon, it’s Kaitlin Olson from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia?

How to watch High Potential in New Zealand

High Potential will be available to stream in New Zealand on Disney+ from January 23, 2025.

What is High Potential about?

A remake of the French series HIP: High Intellectual Potential (and there’s your explanation, mon ami), High Potential stars Olson as Morgan, a single mum and cleaning lady, who happens to have an off-the-charts IQ, heretofore unrecognised. As it happens, she cleans for the LAPD. And also as it happens, she spots a mistake on one of their evidence boards, much like Matt Damon did in that acclaimed weepie we mentioned above. She quickly finds herself attached to the Major Crimes Unit as a consultant, juggling detective work with parenting her kids, and also trying to figure out why her first husband disappeared years ago. This one comes to us from Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods) so expectations are high on our end.

The cast of High Potential

In addition to Olson, who looks like she’s absolutely killing it, we have Daniel Sunjata and Javicia Leslie as cops Karadec and Daphne; Deniz Akdeniz as Oz, another cop; Amirah J as Ava, Morgan’s teenage daughter; Matthew Lamb as Elliot, and Judy Reyes as Selena, head of the LAPD Major Crimes Division. Plus, Garret Dillahunt, one of our all-time fave character actors, has a recurring role as Lieutenant Melon, head of the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division—the same job Al Pacino’s Vincent Hanna had in Heat. We’ll bet folding money they make a joke about that.

Why we’re excited about High Potential

Look, this just looks great. Olson is capital T talent, as is Goddard, and the whole thing looks fresh and fun. What’s the hold up, Disney?
