How to watch I am Groot season 2 in New Zealand
Everyone’s cute lil alien-tree-thing and agent of chaos is back for another season of edutainment for children of all ages! I am Groot season two has arrived in New Zealand and is now streaming exclusively on Disney+.
There’s a certain temptation to just copy and paste “I am Groot” a bunch of times until we hit the word limit here, but the editors are under enough stress already, so here’s the gist. Created by American animator Kirsten Lepore and inspired by her own infant son, I am Groot follows Baby Groot (voiced once again by Vin Diesel, who certainly knows an easy paycheque when he sees one) as the cute little guy navigates life in outer space, getting into mischief and learning lessons. That sort of thing.
Familiar voices behind other animated faces include Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Jeffrey Wright as The Watcher, and James Gunn as a talking wristwatch (watches have faces, guys). Plus Trevor Devall, Dee Bradley Baker, Bob Bergen, Terri Douglas, Scott Menville, Kaitlyn Robrock, Fred Tatasciore, Kari Wahlgren, and Matthew Wood in support.
Incredibly, the first season of I am Groot was the third highest streaming series for viewers in the United States on the week of its release. It makes more sense when you realise a) it’s only five episodes b) of about five minutes’ duration, and c) aimed at babies, who generally chew on the remote rather than change channels. So it does feel like they’re fudging the numbers a bit. Which isn’t to say it isn’t cute and charming and educational in a pre-school-appropriate way, just that the metrics might be off.
Put it this way: you could watch all of season two in less time than it took to research and write this. But that’s splitting hairs, and as we always like to say around these parts: I am Groot.
