How to watch stress-inducing critical hit series The Bear in NZ
Grab your bibs, Aotearoa; we’re about to get a generous serving of FX’s critically-acclaimed series The Bear.
FX’s hit series The Bear has gotten everyone talking (and salivating) overseas with its return-to-your-roots story of a fine-dining chef who heads back to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop.
Shameless star Jeremy Allen White takes the central role of Carmy, joining a rough-around-the-edges kitchen crew after a heartbreaking death. Grilled in more ways than one, Carmy must tackle the stress-inducing realities of running a kitchen like employment issues, surprise health inspections, and continued attempts at making the perfect beef sandwich. As you can see from the painfully delicious teaser trailer below, he gets at least one of those right.
Like the best ingredients, The Bear is 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes after 37 reviews (as of 18/7/22). The Atlantic writes: “As anxious as The Bear might make you feel, it’s a gorgeous show, riddled with moments of short, sharp beauty.” Rolling Stone agrees, stating the show “had a lot more on its menu than tension and sweat.” The Ringer adds: “The performances are uniformly excellent…”
All episodes of The Bear will stream in New Zealand on Disney+ from 31 August.
