How to watch The Chosen: Last Supper – Part One in New Zealand

This is, in fact, the first two episodes of season five of The Chosen, with the rest of the eight episode season divided into two parts that are also getting theatrical releases. Do you have to have seen the first four seasons to pick of the story? Uh…good question, but we’re going to say no.

How to watch The Chosen: Last Supper – Part One in New Zealand

The Chosen: Last Supper – Part One is screening in New Zealand cinemas from April 10, 2025 which means there’s a fair chance it’ll still be screening over the Easter weekend. Seems appropriate.

What is The Chosen: Last Supper – Part One about?

Jesus!

No, really. Created, directed, and co-written (with Tyler Thompson and Ryan Swanson) by Dallas Jenkins (whose father, Jerry B. Jenkins, penned the apocalyptic Christian Left Behind series with Tim LaHaye). The Chosen has been chronicling the life of Jesus Christ since 2017. The first season was the most successful crowdfunded screen project in history, and the critical response has been pretty favourable, which isn’t always the case with films popular among—and marketed to—the Christian demographic.

But by all accounts, The Chosen is a decently budgeted, well-written, deeply dramatic historical epic—it’s just evangelical as well. Season four ended with Jesus’s return to Jerusalem, which means the crucifixion is just around the corner. But given The Chosen is projected to last seven seasons, expect the storytelling pace to slow down a bit.
