Win or Lose: Season 1
What is Win or Lose season 1 about?
It’s the week of the big game, and every member of tweenage co-ed softball team The Pickles are dealing with the pressure in their own ways. We’ll be following the players, the coach, the umpire, and a few parents, with each episode focussing on a different character and the animation style changing to reflect their differing point of view. So, it’s a bit like Rashomon, but for kids.
The cast of Win or Lose season 1
Will Forte as Coach Dan, whose role here is self-explanatory; Izaac Wang is Yuwen; Milan Ray is Rochelle, the catcher having a “bad day” according to the production info and presumably a focal character; Rosa Salazar is Vanessa, Rochelle’s single mother; Jo Firestone is Sweaty; Winston Vengapally is Boma; Josh Thomson is Frank; Erin Keif is Lena; Rosie Foss is Laurie; Vyvan Pham is Monica. Plus there’s Ian Chen, Dorien Watson, Lil Rel Howery, Melissa Villaseñor, Flula Borg, Kyliegh Curran, Jaylin Fletcher, Tom Law, Beck Nolan, Orion Tran, and Rhea Seehorn in undisclosed roles.
Also in the cast is transgender actor Chanel Stewart as Kai, who was a transgender character until recently, with Disney excising that narrative element for reasons that largely boil down to cowardice.

Why we’re excited about Win or Lose season 1
Hey, it’s Pixar—you’ll probably have a good time. We’re intrigued by the mix ‘n’ match approach to animation being touted here. But on the other hand, this seems like something to check out when you get a spare minute, rather than a day-and-date must see.
