What is Your Friends and Neighbours season 1 about?
Our man Hamm is New York hedge fund manager Andrew “Coop” Cooper, recently divorced and facing financial ruin, who hits upon a swell idea the float his sinking boat: he starts burglarising the homes of his fellow white collar suburbanites, figuring they won’t miss many of the high end bits and bobs he pilfers (which probably reflects on his own changing attitudes to materialism, reading between the lines).
As is often the case in scenarios like these, he soon gets an eye into his wealthy neighborhood’s seamy underside, and the secrets of his fellow members of the polo shirt set. It sounds a little like a cross between American Beauty and Blue Velvet, but given it was created by Jonathon Tropper, who previously gave us the delightfully nutsoid crime drama Banshee and Western/martial arts mash up Warrior, we suspect it’ll be wilder than it first appears. Apple seem happy—they’ve already greenlit a second season.

Why we’re excited about Your Friends and Neighbours season 1
While we can’t summon up much sympathy for real world hedge fund managers fallen on hard times, the charismatic Hamm looks like he’s having a ball, and given the creative team in play (Cruella director Craig Gillespie is an executive producer and calls the shots on the first two episodes) it’s safe to say this one will have a surprise or two up its sleeve.
