Kiwi Crime Comedy ‘The Fall Guys’ Gets Rialto Release May 23rd

Labelled as being “in the tradition of Reservoir Dogs & Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels,” indie Kiwi crime-comedy The Fall Guys has been doing a number of one-off screenings around New Zealand. After slowly building momentum, the film is getting a limited Auckland run in Rialto Newmarket on May 23rd, with director Scott Boswell and the cast making an appearance at an exclusive screening on May 24th.

In an interview we did with Boswell, he told us how the film was shot on the most modest of budgets over consecutive free weekends. Driven to “satisfy the film student in [him] obsessed with [Quentin] Tarantino and [Robert] Rodrigues,” the man’s passion for filmmaking is extremely admirable.

Here’s the official synopsis:

A New Zealand based crime comedy about three mid-twenties college buddies – Kubrick, Lucas and Max. While out on a bachelor’s night they come across a crime scene and three cases of premium  grade heroin.

Their stories are interwoven and told in flashback as they are interviewed by Narcotics Detective Mark Harrison and his officers. Each interrogation unknowingly pushes them deeper and deeper into a world they clearly know nothing about.

Mixing together a cast of intriguing characters and a twisting turning plot will keep you guessing until the end. It’s a wild concoction of violence, drugs and one insane Bride.
