Our expanded streaming coverage helps even more with what to watch
An increased focus on streaming and the best series content to watch episode by episode means Flicks is doing even more to help you decide on what to watch, and where to watch it.
For a while we’ve been letting you know what’s coming up on streaming services like Neon and Netflix and publishing editorial pieces on their key films and shows. Now it’s time to step it up, and we have, with expanded coverage of premium episodic and series content—a massive amount of newly-created dedicated series pages, an increase in the amount of editorial coverage, and a new weekly newsletter covering all things streaming.
It’s all housed in our streaming section, which has had a refresh, making it easier to see what’s new to your favourite providers. Recognising the distinction between movies and series is less relevant than ever, you can find both grouped together by provider and genre, for maximum ease of browsing.
If you’re reading this, you’re bound to already be familiar with how Flicks movie pages tell you everything you need to know about a particular film—from what it’s about to who’s in it, trailers to watch and info on what critics (often including our own) have to say about it. Most crucially, we also tell you where to see it—and that’s exactly what we are now doing for your favourite series.
For example, Curb Your Enthusiasm now has a separate page on Flicks for each of its 10 seasons, with the same information you expect from our movie pages plus individual episode guides and details of where and when to watch them.
As well as our comprehensive guides on everything coming to NZ streaming services—and our recommendations of what to watch—expect to see more editorial dedicated to streaming content. That means more reviews of straight-to-streaming films, more previews of upcoming shows, and more thoughtful, informative features from our team of knowledgeable contributors. In addition to this, when Westworld makes its eagerly-anticipated return for season three, we’ll be making our first foray into weekly episode recaps to help you keep track of the complex show’s mind-boggling developments.
The best way to keep track of all of this is our new weekly email, the Screen Informant. Each Tuesday we’ll bring you the best of the past week’s editorial and let you know the best new shows and movies arriving on streaming services. Current subscribers of our weekly Film Informant newsletter know the drill (and are already signed up for the Screen Informant). You’ve got the option of subscribing to one or the other—or neither, although our opinion is, of course, that you should subscribe to both because they are awesome.
Been using our watchlist function? There’s no better time to remind you about why you should also sign up as a Flicks user—as well as being able to customise a list of your favourite cinemas to streamline your ticket-buying, you can create lists of what you want to see as you browse the site.
That’s it for now. We’re really excited about growing our coverage of the best in viewing options over the coming weeks and months, and are quietly (ok, maybe not-so-quietly) confident that you’re going to find plenty of value in it, too.
