The directorial debut of brothers Danny and Michael Philippou—better known as YouTubers RackaRacka—has already racked up serious acclaim from its Sundance premiere. Produced by Causeway Films, the Australian company behind The Babadook, and distributed by A24, it’s a buzzed-about supernatural scarefest you simply can’t miss.
The film sees teenagers taking turns to grasp an embalmed inscribed hand at séances, holding it and saying “talk to me”—whereupon they’re possessed by a random spirit. Of course, that’s just the beginning…
We’re stoked to present an advance screening at Auckland’s Hollywood Avondale on Tuesday 18 July, starting 7:30pm. That’s over a week before this hottest new A24 film of the year opens to the general public. Doors open at 6:30pm, with a classic Hollywood pre-show of cult trailers from 7pm.
