Where can I watch the Seinfeld AI show Forever Nothing?
It ended up fourth on our list of reader’s favourite shows of all time, but Seinfeld does suck in one regard: it ended. After nine legendary seasons, Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer gave us some final gags in the divisive 1998 two-part finale and then wrapped, leaving their “show about nothing” to live on in sitcom infamy.
But what if some mad AI geniuses could give us a version of the series that never stopped, never devolved into lame clip-show repeats, and presented “jokes” with even more surreal and nonsensical punchlines? A bizarre experiment from Mismatch Media uses an OpenAI text generator and simple visuals to instantly create one neverending, fresh episode of a show that…kind of looks like Seinfeld + Minecraft, albeit with new characters.
“Larry, Fred, Yvonne and Kakler” are available to watch every second of every day via the Forever Nothing Twitch stream, where amused comments rain upwards from the sidelines. Here’s the link.
We can’t promise exactly what you’ll see, as it’s being generated and read aloud anew constantly, but what we’ve noticed so far is plenty of somewhat-Seinfeldian scenes of the foursome arguing and relating strange, ironic events of their daily lives.
Of course there are frequent cuts to “Larry’s” stand-up performances, but his best attempt at aping the real Jerry’s trademark observational comedy is typically just to end each string of thoughts by asking his audience, “have any of you ever been in this situation?”
In short, Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld never need to feel too concerned about their job prospects. But Forever Nothing is nevertheless fascinating, and weirdly watchable: as strangely layered and delicious as the coveted cinnamon babka.
